Along with the tournament itself, a Football World Cup is judged by the atmosphere and parties, which surround it all over the world. If you can find a place or bar that captures the World Cup atmosphere it’s almost as good as being there. If you happen to be in Amsterdam during the 2010 Football World Cup you are in luck. Coco’s Outback Pub in central Amsterdam is by far the best place in Amsterdam to watch the World Cup! It will show all of the matches live and you can come and live the excitement and atmosphere that only a World Cup generates! As an added bonus you can also stay right above the bar in newly renovated, luxurious apartment for up to 8 people for short-term stays (all in Rembrandtplein, one of the main squares in Amsterdam).

The large capacity of Coco's means there will be a great atmosphere during the World Cup!
The large capacity of Coco's means there will be a great atmosphere during the World Cup!

This year’s World Cup promises to be the best sporting event in Amsterdam and Europe this summer by a mile! But you don’t have to go to South Africa to enjoy the best it has to offer. It’s taking place during European summer (supposed to be a hot one in Amsterdam, fingers crossed), which is also normally a football dead time. Secondly it’s being held in South Africa, which has the exact same time zone as Amsterdam. So the games are scheduled at times that are friendly to both TV and to bars’ (definitely Coco’s Outback’s) opening times (open daily from 11:00, weekends from 10:00).

Coco’s Outback and why it’s the best place to watch the World Cup

The terrace which will have 4 big screen TVs set-up during the World Cup

Coco’s will be open and showing every game live during the 2010 Football World Cup.

Coco’s Outback is one of the (if not the) biggest sports bars in Amsterdam. Boasting 17 high-definition flat-screen TV’s inside, comfortable leather couches, extensive seating and tables, it can fit a very large number of people inside and outside and cater to large groups (so stag and hen parties no problem, without bothering the rest of the patrons).

Along with all those TVs inside it will also have 2 projectors set-up with big screens. All World Cup matches will be shown on the big screens and the TV's with sound/commentary (in English). During the World Cup Coco’s will also have 4 large flat-screen TVs set-up outside on the massive terrace (also one of the largest in Amsterdam)! Coco’s has an extensive menu of top-quality hearty food (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner). Coco’s also provides table service so you never have to take your eyes of the World Cup games! So you can sit outside, enjoy the weather, have a drink and some food and watch the World Cup matches at the same time. If there is no space in Coco’s you can also watch the games in the Coco’s Mine (the smaller party bar right next to Coco’s Outback). Here there will be 4 big flat screens and 1 big screen.

Coco’s is an Australian themed pub, but is very international, and is extremely popular with expats, locals and tourists alike. So people of all nationalities will feel welcome. There’s something for fans of all World Cup nations. Coco’s has several happy hours every day, lots of cocktails as well as food & drinks specials. As well as a number of draft beers, including frozen Heineken Pints, Coco’s boasts more then 15 different Australian, New Zealand, Tasmanian & South African bottle beers.

Stick around at Coco’s for the party that will undoubtedly ensue post-World Cup matches. There’s clubbing with DJ’s Friday and Saturday nights from 22:00 until late (up until to 4:00) at Coco's Outback & Coco's Mine.
